Promptless alternative for Notion and GitHub docs
Promptless and Amendary both propose documentation updates after the product changes. They differ in where the docs live, what triggers a check, and how you pay. Facts about Promptless below are as of October 2026, from their public pages.
What Promptless does well
- Promptless for Docs suggests documentation updates when the product changes, matches an existing style guide, and generates screenshots.
- It listens to more than code: GitHub pull requests, Slack threads, documentation tickets and support tickets.
- Its integrations list is wide: GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Jira, Linear, Notion, Confluence, GitBook, ReadMe, Mintlify and Docusaurus.
- Suggestions carry citations you review, comment on or edit inline before they open a PR or go to the docs provider.
- A second product, Promptless for Agent Instructions, reviews agent session traces to improve skills, subagents, hooks and AGENTS.md files.
Pick Promptless if your docs are published on Mintlify, GitBook, ReadMe or Docusaurus, if you want screenshots generated with the text, if Slack and support tickets are an important signal for you, or if you also want governance for agent instruction files.
Where Amendary differs
- Notion and GitHub as destinations, nothing else. Amendary corrects Notion pages and Markdown files in a repo docs folder or wiki. It does not host a docs site. See the Notion and GitHub integration pages.
- An evidence and grounding gate. Every correction links the release or commit behind it. A version, path or URL the change does not back up, a removal the change does not mention, or an addition is held for a person even in auto mode. See Queue & reviews.
- Per-commit checks for engineering docs. Runbooks, playbooks and internal guides are checked against landed commits on the default branch, not per pull request, so a direct push counts too.
- Undo. An applied correction can be undone for 30 days after a conflict check, on every Notion plan.
- Flat pricing, published. A per-workspace subscription with the limits on the pricing page. Daily checks and corrections are never metered; only generating docs from scratch spends credits.
Side by side
- Destinations
Promptless: Its integrations list names GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Confluence, GitBook, ReadMe, Mintlify and Docusaurus; the page does not say which are write destinations.
Amendary: Notion pages, and Markdown in a GitHub repo docs folder or wiki.
- Change signals
Promptless: GitHub pull requests, Slack threads, documentation tickets and support tickets.
Amendary: Landed commits on the default branch for engineering docs; commits, a branch, GitHub Releases or tags (per repo) for help-center pages.
- Review model
Promptless: Review citations, give feedback or edit suggestions inline, then open a PR or deploy to the docs provider.
Amendary: Review by default. On a paid plan an owner can turn on auto mode; ungrounded values, removals and additions are still held.
- Pricing published
Promptless: No. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial; the site asks you to book a demo.
Amendary: Yes, flat per workspace, on the pricing page.
- Hosting
Promptless: Not stated on the page we read.
Amendary: None. Amendary edits the pages you already own and never hosts a docs site.
When not to pick Amendary
- Your docs are hosted on Mintlify, GitBook, ReadMe, Docusaurus or Confluence. Amendary does not write there.
- You need screenshots generated or updated alongside the text.
- Your main change signal is Slack or support tickets rather than what landed in GitHub.
- You want one vendor to also manage agent instruction files.
What we did not check
We read the Promptless homepage only. We did not confirm which listed integrations are write destinations and which are context sources, so Notion and Confluence support is unverified here. We did not see prices, and the page does not say whether Promptless hosts docs. The page shows customer names and logos that we did not verify.
